In stereo recording, to capture an orchestra’s full spatiality, the recording angle of your microphone system needs to match the conductor’s “viewing angle”.
The setup needed to achieve a certain angle is hard to guess—it involves higher mathematics. If you go too big, the orchestra will concentrate in the middle of the stereo panorama. If you choose to small an angle, the orchestra will get pushed towards the speakers. Both youll want to avoid.
